FreeBSD Install-A-Thon for August 1999

The next FreeBSD Install-A-Thon will be held on August 28th at the Cow Palace in Daly City. This will be held jointly with CABAL and BALUG. These Install-A-Thons are held in conjunction with The Robert Austin Computer Show which runs from 10am to 4pm.

Robert Austin Computer Shows has new pricing policy for addmission to their shows. Admission is now $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children, ages 5 to 15. Presumably children under 5 are free. However if you go to their web page , and register for their VIP tickets, you will be able to get in for free.

Bring us your tired, you poor, your trashed installations and we'll fix them! Don't bother to bring your keyboard or monitor as we will have spares at the show to work with.

We will have copies of FreeBSD 3.0 to be distributed. We are asking everyone getting a copy, please donate $5.00 to BAFUG (Bay Area FreeBSD Users Group).

We could use some help with borrowing hardware and doing installs. If you feel like helping out drop either Josef Grosch or Nicole Harrington email.

  • DRIVING FROM OAKLAND AIRPORT. SAN JOSE AND HAYWARD: Take I-880 North, Turn right at BROADWAY. The hotel is located at 1001 Broadway, between 10th and 11th Streets. For parking, turn left onto 10th Street, right on Clay Street and right on 11th Street. The self-parking entrance is on 11th Street.
  • DRIVING FROM THE EAST BAY. WALNUT CREEK AND CONCORD: Drive WEST on Highway 24 through the CALDECOTT TUNNEL for approximately three miles to I-980. Follow the signs to DOWNTOWN OAKLAND. Take 11th - 12th Street EXIT. Continue one block and turn left at 11th Street. Continue on 11th Street for four blocks to self-parking entrance.
  • DRIVING FROM SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: From SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT, take I-101 NORTH to San Francisco. Continue through San Francisco to the BAY BRIDGE. Continue EAST on the Bay Bridge. Once off the BAY BRIDGE, stay to your right and follow signs to I-980. Follow signs to DOWNTOWN OAKLAND. Take 11th - 12th Street EXIT. Continue one block and turn left at 11th Street. Continue on 11th Street for four blocks to self-parking entrance.
  • DRIVING FROM SACRAMENTO, BERKELEY AND MARIN COUNTY: Drive WEST on I-80 to I-580 East. Continue East on I-580 to I-980. Follow signs to DOWNTOWN OAKLAND. Take 11th - 12th Street EXIT. Continue one block and turn left at 11th Street. Continue on 11th Street for four blocks to self-parking entrance.
